Yes — every BTS member has finished South Korean military service. Jin was discharged first, on 12 June 2024; the last, SUGA, completed his alternative service on 21 June 2025. Since that day no member has been in service, and BTS has been active as seven, with the ARIRANG album in March 2026 and a world tour that is still running.

What the "all done" headlines leave out: Korean law does not end a man's duty at discharge. Each member now sits in the reserve forces (예비군) until the end of 2032 or 2033, and some move on to the civil defence corps (민방위대) after that. Below are the exact BTS military service dates for each member, where each one served, what is left under the law, and where the group is right now.

BTS Military Service Dates: All Seven Members at a Glance

The table runs in enlistment order. Every discharge date is exactly the legal term counted from the enlistment date (18 months for the Army, 21 for social service, ending the day before the same date), which is the simplest proof that nobody got a shortcut.

Three patterns explain almost every question fans ask about this table.

They went in roughly by age. Jin, born in 1992, went first; the four youngest went last, on consecutive days in December 2023. RM and V entered the Korea Army Training Center (육군훈련소) in Nonsan together on 11 December; Jimin and Jung Kook entered the 5th Division's training centre together the next day, under the Army's buddy-enlistment option (동반입대), and served in the same brigade.

Two members became drill assistants. Jin and J-Hope were picked after basic training to stay at their training centres as 조교, the soldiers who run new recruits through drill and weapons training. Newsis and OSEN reported Jin's posting; Seoul Shinmun reported that J-Hope walked out of the 36th Division training centre gate in Wonju at about 10 a.m. on 17 October 2024.

Some English sources are one day off. Several timelines, and even some Korean articles written after the fact, give 10 December for RM and V and 11 December for Jimin and Jung Kook. The day-of reports (OSEN and YTN for Nonsan, Newsis for Yeoncheon) and the 18-month arithmetic both point to 11 and 12 December. Why SUGA Enlisted Before Four Members and Finished Last

SUGA started on 22 September 2023, almost three months before RM, V, Jimin and Jung Kook, and came out eleven days after them. That is not a penalty or an extension. He served as a 사회복무요원 (social service agent), the alternative category for men whose physical examination grade rules out active duty — BIGHIT never gave his grade or the reason; Korean media linked it to the left-shoulder surgery he had in November 2020. Social service runs 21 months against the Army's 18, so an earlier start still finished later.

Social service agents work at public offices, welfare facilities or other public institutions, commute from home and do not live on a base. BIGHIT MUSIC did not disclose his workplace. He was formally released from duty (소집해제) on 21 June 2025; BIGHIT said in advance there would be no official event and asked fans not to go to the site.

The honest part of his record: on the night of 6 August 2024, while still a social service agent, SUGA rode an electric scooter home after drinking, near his home in Hannam-dong, Seoul. Police measured a blood-alcohol level of 0.227%, about three times the licence-revocation threshold. On 27 September 2024 the Seoul Western District Court issued a summary order fining him ₩15 million (about US$11,000), the amount prosecutors had asked for. His release date did not move — 21 June 2025 is exactly 21 months from his start.

Are BTS Completely Done With Military Duty? The Reserve Years

Not under Korean law. Discharge ends full-time service; it does not end the obligation. The Reserve Forces Act (예비군법), Article 3(1), places two groups in the reserve:

• men who finished active duty, "from the day after they finished service until 31 December of the year in which eight years have passed" (그 복무를 마친 날의 다음 날부터 8년이 되는 해의 12월 31일까지) — that covers Jin, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin and Jung Kook;
• men who finished alternative service, with social service agents named first, for the same eight-year period — that covers SUGA.

After the reserve years, the Framework Act on Civil Defense (민방위기본법), Article 18, applies: Korean men belong to the civil defence corps "until 31 December of the year in which they turn 40", and reservists are excluded while they are reservists. The Military Service Act (병역법), Article 72, ends all enlisted-rank military-service obligations at 40.

Applied to each member's dates and birth year, that gives this timetable. It is EpicKor's calculation from the statute text; the Military Manpower Administration assigns each man individually.

What reserve duty actually asks. Article 6 of the Reserve Forces Act lets the defence minister train reservists for up to 20 days a year, and the Enforcement Decree (Article 15) caps it at 160 hours a year, scaled by the reservist's year. In practice the early years carry the heavier call-ups and the later years shrink to short sessions; the training itself, down to the lunch-box debate, is in our Korean reserve force guide.

What it means for a band on a world tour. The same Article 6, paragraph 3, says training "may be held over" (보류할 수 있다) for people who are travelling or staying abroad. A tour that keeps seven men outside Korea for months is exactly the situation that clause covers. Nothing obliges the members or BIGHIT to publish their reserve-training days, and no official schedule exists, so reports of an individual member "at reserve training" should be treated as unconfirmed unless the agency says so.

Did BTS Ever Get an Exemption?

No. Two things happened, and neither was an exemption.

A deferral law in 2020. The Military Service Act amendment promulgated on 22 December 2020 (in force from June 2021) let outstanding pop-culture artists put off enlistment until 30; the deferral was aimed at holders of a government cultural order or medal recommended by the Minister of Culture. Korean media called it the "BTS law" (BTS had received the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit in 2018). It bought time: Jin, the oldest, used the extra years and enlisted in December 2022.

A full alternative-service proposal in 2021–22, never passed. Bills to let pop musicians serve as 예술·체육요원 (the 34-month alternative service open to Olympic medallists and winners of major arts competitions) were debated in the National Assembly's defence committee. A Realmeter poll commissioned by that committee on 14–15 September 2022 (1,018 adults) found 60.9% in favour and 34.3% against. The Defence Ministry kept saying fairness and objective criteria needed "careful review", and the bill never moved. BIGHIT MUSIC then announced in October 2022 that Jin would enlist and the others would follow.

The counter-information worth keeping: "BTS proved the system is fair" is only half true. The members served the full terms, but the 2020 deferral was a privilege ordinary men do not have, and the debate about whether chart records should count like Olympic medals is unresolved in Korea. What BTS Is Doing Now: The ARIRANG World Tour

The reunion went public fast. On 20 March 2026 BTS released ARIRANG, their fifth studio album and first as seven since the service years. The next day, 21 March, they held "BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang", a free outdoor concert at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul. "Swim" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated 4 April 2026, the group's seventh No. 1.

The Korean tour dates are over. BIGHIT announced the tour on Weverse on 14 January 2026 (79 shows in 34 cities at that point; shows were added later). It opened at Goyang Stadium (고양종합운동장) on 9, 11 and 12 April 2026, and returned home for Busan Asiad Main Stadium (부산 아시아드 주경기장) on 12 and 13 June, timed to the group's 13 June debut anniversary; the fan-club presale sold out, according to Dailian. No further Korean date is listed.

What is left. These are the dates on the official BTS World Tour site on 23 October 2026:

Dates are local. The 23 October Buenos Aires show falls on the morning of 24 October in Korea.

What is not confirmed. Live Nation announced a 10 February 2027 Melbourne show on 2 June 2026 that the official site did not show on 23 October; reports of further 2027 shows in Japan and the Middle East have no official dates yet; and outlets give different total show counts (79 at announcement, 81 to 88 in later reports). Myths About BTS and Military Service

"BTS were exempted." No member was. Six served 18 months in the Army; SUGA served 21 months in social service, which is a legal service category, not an exemption.

"SUGA got an easy deal." Social service is assigned by the physical examination grade, and it is three months longer than Army service. The fair criticism of SUGA is the August 2024 drunk scooter ride, not his category.

"V served in Seoul." He served with the 2nd Corps military police SDT in Chuncheon, Gangwon. Our V service page has the unit history.

"They're free of the military now." Free of full-time service, yes. Reserve status runs to the end of 2032 or 2033, and civil-defence membership for some members runs to their 40th year.

"The tour skipped Korea." It started in Goyang and played Busan in June. The remaining legs are Latin America, Asia and Australia.
