What EpicKor collects, and why
EpicKor (epickor.com) is an English-language guide to Korea published by Tripclip, a video-production company based in Korea. You can read everything on this site without an account. This page explains the small amount of data that is collected when you do, who collects it, and how to opt out.

Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides people read and how they arrive. It sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and records pages viewed, approximate location (country or city), device and browser type, the page that referred you, and clicks on outbound and affiliate links. We use this only in aggregate to decide what to write and update. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying individual visitors. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes IP addresses in server logs to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Affiliate links (Amazon and Agoda)
Some links on EpicKor are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, EpicKor earns from qualifying purchases. We may also earn a commission from qualifying bookings made through Agoda links. This costs you nothing extra.
When you click one of these links, Amazon or Agoda may set cookies on their own site so the purchase or booking can be credited to EpicKor. Those cookies are governed by their policies (Amazon, Agoda). We never receive your name, address, or payment details from them — only aggregate reports of clicks and commissions.
Embedded videos
Some articles embed YouTube videos. YouTube may set cookies and collect viewing data when a video loads or plays, under Google's privacy policy.
Email newsletter
If you subscribe to the EpicKor newsletter, we collect your email address (and your first name if you choose to give it). It is stored with our email service provider and used only to send the newsletter. We ask you to confirm your subscription by email, every issue has an unsubscribe link, and we do not sell or rent the list.
Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
- Opt out of Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with the link in any issue.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its use. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Where data is processed
Our analytics, hosting, and email providers are based in the United States, so data may be processed there under their own safeguards. We keep analytics data only as long as Google Analytics' retention settings allow and newsletter data until you unsubscribe.
Children
EpicKor is written for adults and is not directed at children under 16.
